Ryan's First Day of Pre-School  September 15, 2008

Today was Ryan's first day at the Child Development Center on Ramstein Air Base. Well, this adventure didn't last but one week.

After finding out that I had been hired by DoDDs as a Special Education Paraprofessional, we had to find Ryan a school..and pretty quick. He got in immediately! He was all excited when he woke up on the first day and was ready to go to school. However, when we arrived, he realized I was leaving him and broke down terribly. Of course, I cried my heart out and didn't want to leave, but John saved the day. He stayed with Ryan while I left to go to my first day of work.

The first day was okay for Ryan. The teachers say he pouted some and slept most of the day. When I arrived to pick him up, he was playing outside.

Day two was even worse. He cried from the moment he got up all the way to replaying the scene from the previous day. I was heartbroken. Again, John stayed with him while I went to work again. This was just too much for me!

By the third day, I realized the job wasn't going to work out for me and it wasn't worth watching Ryan suffer. I know that I will eventually have to send him to school, but for now we are just fine staying home together.

Plus, I am confident that I can teach him anything any other teacher can. For now, he's on pins and needles waiting to go to school next year with Nick.
