The Schnapps House  November 21, 2008

Good Evening,

Tonight Pavlina and I went to The Schnapps House with the 603rd ACOMS Spouses Group. Honestly, this experience was just okay!

Pavlina drove and it snowed on us the whole time we were headed to the restaurant. When we got there, we had to park around back down a very steep hill and in the grass. We were so nervous we were going to get stuck.

After going inside, we were introduced to several of the spouses and a free shot of cherry liquor. It was nasty! It tasted like NyQuil. Then we were taken on a "tour" of the Schnapps House. Yeah whatever! The man talked about himself the whole time inside of his little office with a big distillery machine. Boring!

We were then taken upstairs to a room with a designated table. I was adventurous and attempted to order wine. Gross! The food was actually quite delicious...it was buffet style. I had some yummy spatzele (a type of noodles) and mashed potatoe croquets. They also had some yummy cheese, cucumber and tomatoes in a vinegarette sauce. After dinner, the staff came around and offered Schnapps tasting. I actually turned it down! The Schnapps here is like 80 proof.

After hours of eating and conversations, I can say that the night turned out okay! This is not a place I will go again, but I can say the experience is always worth a try!
