Burg Trifels Castle  November 15, 2008

Today was a great day! We headed down south to Pirmasens and Burg Trifels. We found a great little store full of Christmas decorations and tons of wicker baskets.

We visited the castle ruins of Burg Trifels. Trifels Castle is a medieval castle in the small town of Annweiler Germany. The name Trifels means threefold rock. The castle is most famous as the place where the English King Richard I of England (Richard the Lionheart) was imprisoned after his return from the crusades in 1193.

After we left the castle, we headed back home and found the most delicious Italian restaurant in Landstuhl called Salvatore's. The food and atmosphere was so wonderful! They had the most awesome garlic butter to go with their bread. I of course ordered a dish that I thought was without meat. I quickly found out that it contained Salmon. The waitress quickly replaced my meal with spaghetti and all was well. The kids loved it too! We have found our place for Italian!
